Rec basketball consists of several different programs, with separate teams for girls and boys. All teams are Edgewood-based.
All families who have children that participate in the Sunday clinics must be paid members of the EAA. EAA representatives will be on hand at a table outside the gymnasium on the first day of the Sunday clinics, November 15th, to collect Sunday basketball fees as well as EAA dues. Please be sure to make your payment on November 15th. Sunday clinics will be held on the following dates: 11/15, 11/22, 12/6, 12/13, 1/10, 1/24, 1/31, and 2/7. The following is the list of coordinators for each grade and the expected scheduled times for each clinic. If your child is interested in playing, please e-mail the appropriate coordinator:
10:00am-10:55am: 2nd grade Boys
11:00am-11:55am: 2nd grade girls
12:00pm-12:55am: 3rd grade girls
1:00pm-1:55pm: 1st grade girls
2:00pm-2:55pm: 1st grade boys
3:00pm-3:55pm: Kindergarten girls
4:00pm-4:55pm: Kindergarten boys Grades 4 and 5 play games against other Scarsdale neighborhoods, usually on Saturday afternoons. The Edgewood teams will be formed, and the schedules set, after the total number of children participating is determined, so it is essential that you email the grade coordinators to let them know of your child's interest. There will also be one practice each week, usually on a weekday evening at Edgewood. Again, the schedules cannot be made until the number of teams is determined, so contact your grade coordinators right away.
The "A" team is for children whose skills may be more advanced and are looking to compete at higher level. The "B" teams are for children looking to compete in a friendly sports environment. The Scarsdale Recreation Department requires each neighborhood to only have one "A" team for each grade and each "A" team is limited to 8 players. Tryouts for the "A" teams will be held at Edgewood at dates and times to be announced. Coaches of the 6th, 7th and 8th grade teams will serve as evaluators. They will be assigned to evaluate players in grades they are not coaching to make the evaluations as impartial and as objective as possible. Any child who is not selected for the "A" team or who chooses not to try out for the "A" team will be assigned to one of the "B" teams for that grade. The Edgewood teams will be formed, and the schedules set after the total number of children participating is determined, so it is essential that you contact your grade coordinator to let them know of your child's interest as soon as possible. It would be helpful (but it is not at all mandatory) if you would indicate whether your child intends to try out for the "A" team.
Please remember to wear blue Edgewood T-shirts to all games. Or contact the basketball coordinator for your child's grade, as listed below. Basketball Coordinators

BASKETBALL
Grades K-3 have Sunday clinics, in 55 minute sessions, held in the Edgewood gymnasium. The clinics will begin on November 15th. The cost for the entire season is $40 per child, which helps defray the signficant janitorial and heating expenses, paid by the EAA, for opening the school on Sundays. The $40 fee is in addition to your EAA Dues.
